Virgin starts Melbourne terminal revamp

written by WOFA | June 8, 2012

Virgin Australia is refurbishing its Melbourne terminal.

Virgin Australia has commenced work on a significant refurbishment of its domestic terminal at Melbourne Airport, which it says will bring the facility into line with the airline’s new branding.

“Melbourne is one of our busiest domestic airports and we serve over seven million guests every year – more than 19,000 every single day,” said Virgin’s chief operating officer Sean Donohue.

“In addition to this program of works, we are also on track to introduce a Premium Valet service at Melbourne Airport, later this year.”

Melbourne has long been a key market for the airline, which recently opened a new corporate Lounge at the airport, and has boosted frequencies to Brisbane, Sydney and Hobart. It also operates its Airbus A330-200s from Melbourne on some services to Perth.

Melbourne Airport says that all works will continue to operate as normal, and it will work closely with Virgin and Regional Express to minimise the impact on passengers while the refurbishment takes place.
