Plans by Airbus Military to include the A400M transport in the flying display at next week’s Farnborough Air Show appear to have been dashed, with reports that ongoing engine will relegate it to a static display only.

According to a Reuters report citing an unnamed industry source, the first production A400M which was to have taken part in the flying display has been suffering a gearbox issue. Similar issues have affected the flight test A400Ms in recent months.

Airbus had announced in late June that it intended to fly the A400M and A380 every day during the airshow, but it now appears that only the A380 will take part in the flying displays.
