Air New Zealand has become the first international airline to offer self-service check in kiosks at Sydney Airport.

Fifteen of the kiosks have been commissioned allowing passengers to scan their passport and be issued a boarding pass.  Passengers with luggage will then proceed to a bag drop desk.

According to Air New Zealand the kiosks will “almost eliminate queuing and customers will notice a significant improvement in their airport experience”.

The Sydney initiative follows the airline’s positive experiences in New Zealand. Kiosks have been in place at the country’s four principal airports with more than 80 per cent of customers preferring to use them.
