Garuda Indonesia will return to Brisbane from August 2013 after vacating the route three years ago as part of its drive to consolidate its financial position.

The airline is now seeking to cash in on growth in travel demand between Australia and Indonesia, which in the first half of this year increased 20 per cent over the same period last year.

The route between Brisbane, Denpasar and Jakarta will be operated using the airline’s new 737-800s six times a week.

In 2013 Garuda will receive 24 new aircraft comprising four 777-300ERs, 10 737-800s, two A330-200s and one A330-300.
