Minister for Defence Stephen Smith and Minister for Defence Materiel Jason Clare have announced the achievement of Final Operating Capability by the RAAF’s fleet of 24 F/A-18F Super Hornets.

The major milestone is achieved when the entire capability can be deployed on Defence operations. According to Defence, FOC takes into account not only the aircraft itself but also logistics, management, sustainment, facilities and training.

As announced in August, 12 of the 24 Super Hornets will be converted to the EA-18G Growler variant under project AIR 5349 Phase 3.
