Cairns’ first scheduled China Southern flight arrived on January 30, marking the start of a thrice-weekly seasonal service to cater for high season demand.

In addition to the scheduled services, Chinese tour operators have chartered China Southern aircraft for seven direct flights between Cairns and Guangzhou during the Chinese New Year. Two charters will be operated to Adelaide.

The airline now operates 41 weekly flights to five Australian cities as it expands rapidly in the market, using Guangzhou as a  hub to Europe.  Flights between southern China, Australia and New Zealand are expected to increase to 51 a week in 2015.
