Gulfstream’s new mid-size G280 business jet has set 15 new city-pair speed records during a 250-hour demonstration program. The aircraft has set 22 speed records since setting its first in May last year.

The manufacturer said that of the 15 city-pair records recently broken the most significant were the 1,640nm sector between Aspen Colorado and Fort Lauderdale, which the G280 completed in three hours and 21 minutes; and 4,124nm between Honolulu and Savannah in eight hours 19 minutes.

Gulfstream president product support Mark Burns said the demonstration program was among the most extensive reliability programs ever undertaken by the company.

“The Gulfstream reliability demonstration program incorporates pilot check rides, maintenance on auxiliary power units, engine run qualifications, technical operations, publications validations and basic servicing and handling at typical fixed-base operators.”

The G280, which entered service in November 2012, has exceeded original performance specifications, with range 200nm more than originally designed and takeoff field length reduced from 4,960ft to 4,750ft.”
