Rolls Royce’s civil aerospace business posted solid gains in 2012, with 23 per cent more engine deliveries over 2011 to 668 units, which increased underlying revenue by 16 per cent to GBP6.43 billion and profit by 46 per cent.

Trent engines accounted for 75 per cent of orders. Among its significant orders for 2012, Rolls Royce reported that Trent 700 engines had been supplied for 54 Airbus A330s, Trent 900s for 11 A380s, Trent 1000s for five 787s including Air New Zealand and Trent XWBs for 30 A350s for Singapore Airlines and Cathay Pacific.

The Trent XWB powerplant gained certification in February this year following flight testing on an A380.
