Virgin, Tourism Australia unveil ‘Best Job’ campaign

written by australianaviation.com.au | March 6, 2013

Virgin and Tourism Ausrtalia have unveiled the first marketing campaign under their expanded partnership.

Virgin Australia and Tourism Australia have launched a $4 million advertising campaign targeting the international youth market as the first stage of the two organisations’ expanded partnership.

As part of the promotion, each of Australia’s six state and territory tourism organisations will offer a unique ‘Best Job in the World’ as a winning prize to applicants.

The jobs include Outback Adventurer for the Northern Territory, Park Ranger for Queensland, Wildlife Caretaker for South Australia, Lifestyle Photographer for Melbourne, Taste Master for Western Australia and ‘Chief Funster’ for New South Wales. Notably absent is the ACT, though perhaps ‘Unpopular Politician’ was not seen as a suitably enticing job title. Tasmania’s absence is less easily explained.

Each job comes with a six-month contract and a package consisting of $50,000 in salary and $50,000 in living expenses. Virgin, or one of its partner airlines, will fly the winners to Australia.

Virgin and Tourism Australia agreed to a $12 million, three-year partnership in December, doubling the value of an agreement first signed in May 2012. That came after Qantas canceled its deal with the tourism body, citing an alleged conflict of interest on the part of former Qantas CEO and current Tourism Australia chairman Geoff Dixon.
