QBE announces Aerial Application Scholarship

written by WOFA | April 18, 2013

QBE has launched an aerial ag scholarship program.

QBE Insurance has launched the inaugural QBE Aerial Application Scholarship. Offered in partnership with the Aerial Agricultural Association of Australia (AAAA), the $5,000 scholarship is open to aviation professionals interested in furthering their career development, particularly in the area of safety management.

The scholarship will be awarded to an individual currently operating in the aerial application industry who proposes activities that would benefit themselves and the wider industry in the pursuit of excellence and improved safety.

“The QBE Aerial Application Scholarship is aimed at reinforcing the message that professional development should continue throughout every aviation career and that safe operations are a foundation stone of all successful aviation companies,” said QBE Australia’s national relationship manager – aviation, Julian Fraser.

“QBE is extremely pleased to be able to encourage and promote safe operations in the aviation industry through this partnership with the AAAA and also in general aviation with initiatives such as our Airmanship Program launched earlier this year,” Fraser added.

The general focus of the scholarship selection panel will be on the safety value of the proposal to the aerial application industry, with candidates being assessed by a representative of QBE and a sub-committee of the AAAA Board.

Activities supported by the scope of the scholarship include overseas travel for further training, domestic study to attain additional qualifications in a relevant discipline and research to develop new safety approaches to aerial application.

Applications for the QBE Aerial Application Scholarship are open until May 17 and interested candidates can submit their application via the AAAA website. The scholarship winner will be announced at the AAAA’s annual convention in June.
