Two of the highest profile airline accidents/incidents in the last decade will feature prominently at Safeskies 2013, to be held at the Realm Hotel in Canberra from October 15 to 17.

As a case study in line with the Conference theme – People and Technology – Chief International Affairs and Communication of the French accident investigation bureau Alain Gilldou will analyse the investigation into the Air France AF447 accident June 2009.

And Michael von Reith, who was cabin safety manager on the Qantas A380 that suffered an uncontained engine failure en route Singapore to Sydney November 2010, will explore Cabin Safety and Crisis Management in Airline Accidents.

These two spotlight presentations will be complemented by an impressive list of overseas and local aviation safety luminaries, details of which will follow.

The Safeskies 2013 Conference will open on the evening of October 15 with the Ansett Memorial Lecture, this year to be presented by Raymond Benjamin, the Secretary General of ICAO.
