Boeing Defence Australia has taken on responsibility for the $140 million E-7A Wedgetail sustainment contract from its US-based parent company.

Air Vice-Marshal Colin Thorne, head of the DMO’s Aerospace Systems Division, stated that the contract provides engineering, maintenance, spare parts and training support to the RAAF’s Wedgetail aircraft fleet.

“Novation [of the contract] to an Australian prime contractor is testament to the growing ability of Australian industry to support the sustainment of Wedgetail operations,” AVM Thorne said. “The effective transfer of integration engineering knowledge on complex airborne command-and-control capabilities from the United States into the local defence industry is an important milestone for the E-7A Wedgetail project.”
