Virgin Australia’s Velocity Frequent Flyer program has formally launched Australia’s first prepaid travel money card to offer frequent flyer points rewards.

In partnership with Visa, the Global Wallet, which is located on one side of the new-look Velocity membership card, enables members to access nine foreign currencies and load money and store it in Australian dollars plus four foreign currencies at one time. Users of the card can also make purchases wherever Visa is accepted, withdraw funds from ATMs and
Earn 1 point for every $2 spent in Australia and one point for every $1 spent overseas.

A Global Wallet App has been designed with which users can view their transaction history, monitor their account balance and move money between currency wallets.

Velocity Frequent Flyer CEO Neil Thompson said: “Complementing our wide credit card portfolio, this is the program’s first prepaid travel money card. Importantly, it also builds on our strong global network of earning opportunities in over 400 destinations around the world, thanks to our partners Singapore Airlines, Air New Zealand, Delta Air Lines and Etihad,” Thompson added.
