Airbus has maintained its industry record for order backlogs, in July receiving a further 174 orders while delivering 52 aircraft.
New narrowbody business was led by easyJet’s confirmation of 135 A320-family aircraft comprising 100 A320neo and 35 A320 current-model aircraft. Airbus also received orders for15 A321s from International Lease Finance Corporation and CIT for five A321s and three A319s.
Widebody sales showed a more modest gain, with SriLankan Airlines becoming a new A350 customer with agreement for four A350-900s, while Turkish Airlines placed an order for three A330-300s.
Taking cancellations into account, Airbus has registered a total of 892 net orders in the first seven months of 2013.
July’s deliveries totalled 52 aircraft, including 42 A320s, nine A330s and one A380. Among them were the first of 12 A380s for British Airways, making it the 10th carrier to receive the type.
The deliveries bring to 347 the number delivered so far this year.
