Airbus orders stabilise during August

written by WOFA | September 9, 2013

Air Asia Indonesia took delivery of the 8,000th Airbus during August.

Airbus has reported seasonally slower orders for August, with nine narrowbody and one widebody bookings for the month. At the same time, Airbus began ramping ramping up production to meet its backlog of orders.

The month’s orders were led by the CIT leasing company’s contract for five A321s, and four A319s by Texas Aviation Group. \Completing the month’s new business was China Eastern Airlines’ order for a widebody A330-200.

The 10 orders in August brought the year’s total net orders to 902.

Airbus’s 8,000th overall delivery also occurred in August with an A320 delivered to the Indonesian operation of AirAsia. A total of 47 aircraft were delivered in August.

Year-to-date, Airbus has delivered 394 aircraft to 83 customers – an eight per cent increase from the January-August period in 2012.

The manufacturer’s backlog stood at 5,190 aircraft at the end of August.
