Garuda Indonesia will introduce 35 new ATR 72-600s into its fleet under a leasing arrangement with Danish leasing firm Nordic Aviation Capital. The deal, which comprises 25 firm aircraft and options for further 10, will see the first aircraft delivered in November this year.
The ATRs will be configured with 70 seats, and will be used in the development of regional tourism and business routes throughout the Indonesian archipelago as well as to feed Garuda Indonesia’s main hubs.
The order forms part of Garuda’s ongoing Quantum Leap transformation and expansion program, which among a wide range of systemic changes is seeking to broaden and strengthen Garuda’s domestic network.
The ATR has achieved significant success in southeast Asia. Since 2005 it has won some 170 aircraft region-wide, in particular in Indonesia where it has attracted 85 firm orders since 2008.
