Virgin Australia has begun codesharing on SilkAir flights to five Indonesian destinations – Bandung, Balikpapan, Lombok, Palembang and Solo.
SilkAir, the full-service subsidiary of Virgin Australia shareholder and alliance partner Singapore Airlines, serves the Indonesian destinations via its Singapore hub. Virgin Australia already codeshares on SilkAir flights between Darwin and Singapore, and last month SilkAir became a partner in Virgin’s Velocity frequent flyer scheme.
“We now have Virgin Australia’s marketing code on 10 destinations across Indonesia that can be accessed on one ticket from all Virgin Australia serviced airports across Australia and New Zealand,” said Virgin Australia chief commercial officer Judith Crompton.
The codeshared Indonesian flights are operated by two-class Airbus A319s and A320s.
