NH Industries will pay the New Zealand government compensation for the late delivery of the nine NH 90s it has on order, according to a report in the New Zealand Herald.
New Zealand ordered eight operational aircraft and one spare for delivery between November 2009 and June 2011 to replace its UH-1H Iroquois helicopters. But to date only two are operational, another four have recently been delivered, and one is undergoing major repairs after a lightning strike.
While details of the compensation package are reported as being commercially sensitive, it reportedly includes the cost of chartering Antonov transport aircraft to deliver aircraft to NZ, various discounts, services free of charge, the provision of additional training and support personnel, and extended warranties.
