Australian Aviation editor Julian Green has stepped down from the magazine after being diagnosed with terminal cancer.
Green, 49, has returned to Europe to be closer to his family and is undergoing palliative treatment.
Prior to joining Australian Aviation in late 2012 Green’s extensive aviation career included serving as CEO of Newcastle Airport and director of Jersey Airport in the Channel Islands, and positions with Qantas and Sydney Airport.
Saying he enjoyed his time at Australian Aviation, Green commented: “The small team at Australian Aviation pushes the boundaries and rises to the challenges in a rapidly changing environment. These attributes are what made the role especially enjoyable.”
“I would also like pay tribute to the magazine’s managing editor and publisher, Gerard Frawley, who has been particularly supportive at this difficult time.”
Said Frawley: “With his genuine, life-long enthusiasm for aviation and extensive corporate knowledge and experience, Julian has been something of a star recruit for Australian Aviation, and rapidly became central to the magazine’s on-going success. His illness and forced resignation leaves us with very big boots to fill.”

Julian will continue to contribute to the magazine on a freelance basis as circumstances permit.
