Cobham Aviation Services has been awarded a five year contract extension by Fugro LADS to support its hydrographic survey services for the Royal Australian Navy.

Under the extension, Cobham will continue to support Fugro in providing the airborne laser bathymetry (ALB) system to survey shorelines, tides, currents, and sea floors.

“We have significant experience operating and maintaining fit for purpose special mission platforms and look forward to continuing to work in synchrony with Fugro with whom we have a long-term relationship,” Darren Moncrieff, General Manager Special Mission, Cobham Aviation Services said in a statement. “Cobham had been supporting Fugro’s hydrographic survey services since 1998.”

The LADS system is based on a Bombardier Dash-8 aircraft which Cobham provides maintenance and other support services for when operating in the region.
