China Eastern Airlines has announced its intention to buy 80 Boeing 737s in an unspecified mix of current NG and re-engined MAX models.

Boeing says the order is valued at US$8bn (A$bn) at list prices. “We look forward to making history with China Eastern as they are poised to make the largest purchase for single-aisle aircraft by a Chinese airline,” Boeing’s vice president of Sales and Marketing for Northeast Asia, Ihssane Mounir said in a statement. “We share an enduring partnership with China Eastern and we are excited to see that the 737 family of aircraft will play an important role in their continued success.”
