The first two RAN members to complete the MH-60R Seahawk Romeo basic sensor operators course have achieved the qualification of ‘SENSO’.
Training at NAS Jacksonville in Florida, the first two SENSOs will join NUSQN725 as it ramps up its training before returning home with the first Romeos in December.
“The whole conversion was a great experience and an amazing opportunity,” newly qualified SENSO Leading Seaman Liam Carruthers told Navy Daily. “The instruction and guidance we received from the US Navy was excellent. They are solid operators and have so much experience with the Seahawk.”
The training comprised 150 hours of simulator, aircraft and ground events covering numerous missions, ranging from search and rescue and utility, to the primary missions of anti-submarine and anti-surface warfare.
