Fiji Airways regional subsidiary Pacific Sun has been formally renamed and relaunched as Fiji Link in a ceremony on June 6.
The ceremony coincided with the arrival in Suva of the airline’s first of two new ATR 72-600s.
“As we announced last November, the new brand for Pacific Sun will be an extension of the Fiji Airways brand,” Fiji Airways Group Managing Director and CEO Stefan Pichler said. “The Fiji Link aircraft has a distinct, yet part-of-the-family look with the Fiji Airways fleet, and therefore retains prominent brand elements in its livery and design. This includes the name “FIJI” featuring prominently on the belly on the aircraft. We are confident that will resonate well at home and in the regions where Fiji Link aircraft will fly.”
Pilcher added that the new aircraft “will help us grow our network in Fiji and in the South Pacific, like the start of direct Suva-Apia flights starting mid-June. The subsidiary’s operations and network will also be re-designed. Connectivity with Fiji Airways’ international schedules will be enhanced to offer customers seamless connections to the North and other island destinations.”
The airline’s current ATR 72-500s will be replaced in service by two 72-600s and a 42-600.
