ASAC names 2013 Air Sports Gold Medal recipient

written by WOFA | July 8, 2014

The Air Sport Australia Confederation (ASAC) has awarded its Air Sports Gold Medal for 2013 to Chris Callow.

The ASAC Air Sports Gold Medal is Australia’s highest air sport award, and recognises an outstanding contribution to aviation generally or to the aviation industry in Australia in particular. The contribution may be through a single outstanding achievement or may be a major contribution over many years in either flying, technical innovation, administration, or leadership.

The ASAC says Callow is a member of the Model Aeronautical Association of Australia and is currently F3D Pylon World Champion, a title he has held five times. He currently holds the World record for Pylon Racing, a record which he has continued to set and reset over many years.

“Not only is he at the pinnacle of his chosen sport, F3D Pylon Racing; he has maintained that status for many years and in doing so has earned the accolades both locally and internationally that are befitting his position,” an ASAC statement reads.

The ASAC is the Australian national air sport control to the Federation Aeronautique Internationale (FAI).
