Irish organisation ASL Aviation Group has signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) with Lockheed Martin to purchase 10 LM-100J Hercules transports.
The LM-100J is a commercial freighter version of the familiar C-130J-30 Hercules, and is the marketing name of the L-382J, a type design update notification for which was submitted to the US FAA in January.
ASL already operates a fleet of C-130E/H derived L-100s through associated company Safair.
“We’ve long relied on our L-100s to deliver results that no other aircraft can produce,” ASL Aviation Group CEO Hugh Flynn said in a statement. “From flying humanitarian relief supplies over rugged African terrain to transporting key cargo within Europe and around the world, no other plane can do what a Hercules can do.”
