Air New Zealand has shown off its first 787-9 to media a day ahead of the aircraft’s delivery flight to Auckland. These images show some of the feaures of the 301-seat airliner, including the airline’s famous ‘cuddle class’ Skycouch, new IFE system and off-the-rack premium economy seats (rather than the Spaceseat premium economy seat design as found in its 777-300ERs). A full report on the aircraft’s entry into service with Air New Zealand will feature in the August issue of Australian Aviation.

I hope Air N.Z buys boeing 777-9x to replace boeing 777-300ER in time and airbus a350-900 to replace boeing 777-200ER or 787-9 with 290 seats 24 business 27 premium to replace boeing 777-200

Well done Air New Zealand, a nice piece of kit.

I love NZ, but I’m not a fan of the new livery. The all-black is OK, but I really do not like the new standard black-oh-white. I much preferred the old teal/blue colours.

I am sure this aircraft is only replacing the 767 and 747 in Air NZ . I don’t think there is any replacement for 777-200 anytime soon or the 777-300ER.

    says:

A pity that there will be only one all-black Air NZ 787, as it looks fantastic.

Why wouldn’t Air NZ paint more (or all) of its 787’s in this livery?

  • Ray

    says:

I must be the only person who isn’t a big fan of the all-black scheme. I think that the white/silver access ports and doors scattered across the fuselage make it look as though it’s received a fair degree of ramp-rash.
