The Victorian State Government has announced a $776,000 upgrade of Kerang Aerodrome near Swan Hill in the north-west of the state.

A large proportion of the funding will come from the government’s $20 million Regional Aviation Fund, and the upgrades will comprise a resealing and re-sheeting of runway, upgrade of fuel storage, widening and levelling of the taxiway, and the installation of a navigational system and lighting.

“Kerang Aerodrome is one of this region’s key economic assets and these upgrades will benefit the local community’s aircraft training services, recreational flying and emergency services,” Victorian Minister for the Aviation Industry, Gordon Rich-Phillips said in a statement. “These improvements are essential if Kerang Aerodrome is to continue playing a role in local tourism and air freight services in the area.”
