A 36SQN C-17 Globemaster has completed the RAAF’s fourth air shipment of military stores to Erbil in northern Iraq. The shipment was delivered without incident on September 16 and the aircraft safely returned to Al Minhad Air Base in the UAE.

The cargo of small arms ammunition was loaded in Tirana, Albania and was then inspected and cleared by Iraqi officials in Baghdad before being delivered to Erbil.

Defence says RAAF C-130J and C-17 aircraft “remain available to assist with further tasks” in support of operations against Islamic State forces in Iraq.
