An aviation and medical student has won the Australia Women Pilot’s Association’s (AWPA) navigation component scholarship, sponsored by the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF).

Jasmine Morris of Healesville in Victoria was awarded the RAAF scholarship worth $7000.

As a second-year para-medicine student and student pilot, Morris hoped to combine her aviation and medical interests in the future.

“I am so excited to be given this opportunity by Air Force. The scholarship will help me pursue my future career in aviation,” Morris said in a statement.

Chief of Air Force Air Marshal Geoff Brown said the navigation component scholarship was designed to encourage young women to pursue a flying career through helping them with training costs.

“This scholarship is an example of Air Force’s commitment to gender diversity,” Air Marshal Brown said.

More information on AWPA scholarships can be found on the association’s website.
