Regional carrier Jetgo has cited delays to establishing its systems at Sydney Airport for postponing the start of scheduled passenger services to December 1.
Jetgo had been due to commence daily flights between Sydney and Roma on November 10, using 36-seat Embraer ERJ 135 aircraft.
However, Jetgo managing director for airlines Paul Bredereck says it has taken longer than expected for the airline to set up the necessary datalinks at Sydney Airport to support the airline’s departure control system.
Bredereck said all passengers affected by the postponed service were provided refunds and a free ticket for future use.
Sydney-Roma and Sydney-Gladstone, the airline’s first two regular public transport (RPT) services, were now scheduled to commence on December 1.
In better news, Bredereck said the airline, which was primarily a charter and fly-in/fly-out operator prior to gaining its high capacity jet RPT Air Operator’s Certificate in October, passed its proving flight for Sydney-Gladstone on Friday November 7.
Jetgo announced last week it would add a third route – Tamworth-Brisbane – from January 19 2015.
The airline was due to receive its first 44-seat ERJ 140LRs before the end of 2014, with the new aircraft currently undergoing ADS-B upgrades before it was ferried over to Australia from Republic Airlines’ facility in the US state of Kentucky.
