If you were a young girl in New Zealand in the 1940s, 1950s or 1970s and had your picture taken on or near an aircraft, Air New Zealand would like to hear from you.

The New Zealand flag carrier is searching for three young girls whose images are currently on a series of commemorative stamps that have been released to celebrate the airline’s 75-year anniversary.

Air NZ head of global brand development Jodi Williams suspects the three youngsters are likely to be relatives of former staff. Unfortunately, Williams says company records have no record of who there three girls are.

“Our archival team and a group of volunteers have spent thousands of hours over the course of a year documenting historical footage and working to identify those who have featured in some of our older marketing campaigns however nowhere in our archives can we find the names of the little girls in the stamps,” Williams said in a statement.

“Having your face on a stamp is pretty special and generally only happens for famous New Zealanders. But these images were chosen for their strong link to not only Air New Zealand’s history but New Zealand’s history.

“We would love to hear from these three women and to be able to put names to the faces appearing in these iconic images.”

One stamp features a photo believed to be taken in 1977 of two young girls on board an aircraft being looked after by a member of the cabin crew.
