Charter and fly-in, fly-out airline Cobham Aviation Services will operate larger 99-seat BAe 146-300 aircraft to Minara Resources’ Murin Murin site as part of a five-year contract extension.

Cobham said in a statement the new contract began in May and covered eight return flights a week from Perth to Murin Murin, located in Western Australia’s north eastern goldfields. The site produces nickel and cobalt.

Under the previous contract, Cobham flew 81-seat BAe 146-100/200s for Minara Resources, a wholly owned unit of Glencore International.

“We pride ourselves on the safety and reliability of our services, supporting top tier resource companies like Minara that operate in regional and remote areas across Australia,” Cobham regional services vice president and general manager Ryan Both said in a statement on Tuesday.

“Minara Resources is a valued client – we’re proud to have supported them for the past 15 years and we’re delighted to continue supporting them into the future.”
