Aircraft 902 from NUSQN 725 fires the first Hellfire missile.CAE has been awarded a contract to develop an MH-60R Seahawk ‘Romeo’ composite maintenance trainer, and to procure a rear crew trainer for the combat helicopter, for the Royal Australian Navy under the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) program.

The composite maintenance trainer will be a modified Romeo helicopter specifically designed to provide mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems training to RAN aircraft maintenance personnel. It will include a suite of instructor-controlled malfunctions that will facilitate training in fault isolation, and the removal or replacement of components. CAE USA will also procure a rear crew trainer from Australian company Virtual Simulation Systems, and take responsibility for delivery and installation at HMAS Albatross. The rear crew trainer will be a modified aircraft mock-up featuring a module for training hoist operations, as well as two weapons modules for training door gunnery operations.

CAE USA will be the prime contractor responsible for the design and development of the composite maintenance trainer, which will be delivered to HMAS Albatross in 2017.

CAE stated that it has already delivered a Romeo helicopter tactical operational flight trainer and an avionics maintenance trainer/weapons load trainer to the RAN, and will deliver a second tactical operational flight trainer next year.
