The RAAF’s first Growler was rolled out in late July.

A facilities project intended to prepare for the arrival of the EA-18G Growler airborne electronic attack aircraft has been referred to the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Public Works.

Parliamentary Secretary for Defence Darren Chester stated that the $348 million project would provide new or upgraded working accommodation; administration, logistics and maintenance facilities; training and simulator facilities; car parking; and associated support services and infrastructure at RAAF Base Amberley.

The project would also provide facilities to support the safe employment of Growler mobile threat training emitter systems at the Army Aviation Centre Oakey and the Delamere Air Weapons Range.

Subject to approval, the construction work is expected to begin in the first half of next year, with completion expected by 2023.
