Davies new RNZAF chief

New RNZAF CAFNew Zealand Minister of Defence Gerry Brownlee has announced the appointment of Air Commodore Tony Davies as chief of the Royal New Zealand Air Force (RNZAF).

Air Commodore Davies, who has been acting chief, has been promoted to Air Vice-Marshal, and a formal command appointment ceremony is due to be held on April 20.

Davies joined the RNZAF in 1984. Training as a pilot he flew C-130 Hercules, Boeing 727 and Boeing 757 transport aircraft.

Most recently he served as Assistant Chief Strategic Commitments and Engagements, and was previously Air Component Commander at Headquarters Joint Forces NZ.

    Interesting fact, both RAAF and RNZAF Chiefs have the surname Davies.
