Regional carrier Jetgo is adding an extra two flights a week between Albury and Brisbane.
The airline will fly six times a week on the route from November 1 with 36-seat Embraer ERJ-135 jets, compared with four flights a week currently.
Jetgo managing director for airlines Paul Bredereck said the two additional flights reflected strong demand, with about 3,000 passengers travelling on the route in the 12 weeks since flights began on June 20.
“We have been amazed at how much the Albury Wodonga community and district has supported these flights,” Bredereck said in a statement on Tuesday.
“We always expected the service would be popular, however the uptake has far exceeded our expectations.”
Bredereck thanked the Albury City Council and Albury Airport for their support of the new service.
At the launch of the route in April, Bredereck explained some of the reasons behind choosing Albury as Jetgo’s third regional NSW destination alongside Dubbo and Tamworth in a YouTube video posted by the local council.

Currently, QantasLink and Virgin Australia serve Albury from Sydney, while Regional Express offers flights to Melbourne and Sydney.
