Boeing Business Jet (BBJ) customers will soon have the opportunity to have a much clearer look at the world from 38,000ft thanks to a partnership between the airframer and GKN Aerospace’s Fokker business.
Boeing said on Tuesday it would work with GKN to develop, produce, offer and support the ‘Skyview Panoramic Window’, which would be available on the BBJ, BBJ 2 and BBJ MAX family of aircraft scheduled for entry into service in 2018.
The window is 1.4m by 0.5m in size and will be the world’s largest window on any passenger jet.
It is made by “effectively joining three existing 737 windows together”, Boeing said, and can be placed in multiple potential locations aft of the wing depending on aircraft type.
The window would be available through GKN Aerospace’s Fokker business as a retrofit on existing BBJs, and through Boeing Business Jets as a priced feature.
