The Australian Division of the Royal Aeronautical Society is holding a one-day seminar in June to put the spotlight on three key areas of concern for aviation safety:
* Drones: Assimilation into current airspace
* Flight Deck: Training standards & the man-machine interface
* Airport and Cyber Security: Weaknesses & challenges
The event, which will held in Sydney at the Four Seasons hotel on 27 June, is intended to foster genuine debate on these issues. There will be no individual speakers but rather a format for the day that allows full interaction between the session leaders/panellists and the floor.
To encourage frank discussion there will be no media present in the room and Chatham House rules of confidentiality will apply to the day. However there will be a communique issued at the conclusion of the three sessions, summarising the outcomes.
The seminar will be followed by an optional dinner in the same venue, allowing for further networking.
There is already considerable interest in the event from the most senior levels of industry and government; and the ‘right’ people from both sectors will be in the room on the day. This will be a unique opportunity to influence debate on these issues.
A core group of principal stakeholders will attend by invitation. Others may participate in the day at a minimal cost of $350 (with the dinner option another $150).
The event is being organised by an RAeS committee comprising Geoff Sartori FRAeS (Chair), David Forsyth AO FRAeS, Andrew Drysdale FRAeS and John Vincent FRAeS.
