Aviator magazine joins the Australian Aviation family

written by WOFA | May 4, 2018

Australia’s two leading aviation magazines are coming together under a common publisher for the first time with the acquisition of Aviator magazine by Aviator Media Pty Ltd, the publisher of Australian Aviation.

The acquisition brings Aviator magazine and Australian Aviation, as well as Australian Defence Business Review (ADBR) magazine, which is published by sister company Felix Advantage, under the one umbrella.

“We’ve fielded several offers over the years but this leapt out as a perfect fit. Months of strategy negotiations have finalised a detailed plan that ensures our title builds upon its solid base, extends its reach and increases its market penetration,” Aviator magazine’s Publisher Simon Holloway said.

“Having met the team at Australian Aviation and Australian Defence Business Review, we were particularly impressed with their professionalism, dedication and depth of experience. Aviator naturally complements their existing, market-leading portfolio.”

Aviator Media CEO and Publisher Christian ‘Boo’ Boucousis explained that bringing the three titles together will allow the expanded publishing group to better address the media needs of the aviation and defence communities, providing an unmatched, all-inclusive digital and print proposition.

“We look forward to building upon our reputation for generating high quality content and our deep levels of reader engagement so we can offer even better value propositions for our readerships and our advertising clients,” Boo said.

“The group’s driving motivation is to advocate for aviation, particularly at grass roots level,” said Holloway.  “We’re thrilled to be part of such a vibrant, forward-looking team.”

The acquisition of Aviator magazine marks a new chapter in the rapid growth of Aviator Media, which was formed in November 2017 to acquire Australian Aviation, under the leadership of entrepreneur and former RAAF fighter pilot Boucousis, in partnership with long-time editor Gerard Frawley.

Since that time Aviator Media has built on Australian Aviation’s 40-year legacy of producing engaging aviation content, revamping the magazine with a fresh redesign, expanded coverage and extra pages, plus expanding its digital media coverage and dramatically boosting its social media presence.

“More than ever, with Australia’s leading aviation mastheads now inside the one group, we are looking forward to bringing our readers aviation through the eyes of the aviator,” Boo said.
