This edition of the Australian Aviation podcast talks with Dr Jeremy Robertson from R&D Aeromed, a company which helps pilots prepare for their aviation medical.
Prior to training as a doctor, Dr Robertson enjoyed a 12-year career in aviation but the rug was pulled out from under him just as his career was hitting a higher gear.
His career path into aviation was fairly typical – he learnt to fly, then completed his CPL, instructors rating and MECIR rating, as well as his ATP subjects all at the UNSW.
Travelling the world as an international airline pilot was the career that he always dreamed of and over time Robertson became a highly experienced airline pilot qualified on both the Boeing 747 and 767 until one day when it all came undone and his flight medical was cancelled.
Dr Robertson transitioned from the world of aviation to become a medical doctor. He keeps close ties with aviation as a DAME (Designated Aviation Medical Examiner) and works closely with pilots and has a deep understanding what is required to help you to pass your aviation medical.
You can find out more about his practice at aeromed.net.au.
