Tapestry secures deal with US Air Mobility Command

written by Adam Thorn | February 19, 2020

Tapestry Solutions has secured a five-year deal to modernise the software platform that underpins the work of the US Air Force’s Air Mobility Command, the division responsible for airlifts and refuelling.

The Boeing subsidiary will be tasked with migrating the Global Decision Support System (GDSS) to a cloud-hosting platform without interruption of its service.

GDSS is the main command and control platform that supports Air Mobility Command missions, and helps crews execute tasks from aerial refuelling to strategic airlifts and humanitarian support.

Debbie Churchill, Tapestry Solutions’ vice president of mission products and services, said, “We are honoured to continue as AMC’s trusted partner on their cornerstone C2 program. We look forward to providing GDSS with additional capability to enable AMC to execute their critical mission more effectively and efficiently.”

Tapestry Solutions, which employs 850 staff and operates in 50 territories worldwide, has worked on the development, sustainment and enhancement of GDSS since 1992.

Under the terms of the deal, GDSS will migrate to a new cloud-hosted, DevOps environment and be integrated with next-generation software applications designed to capitalise on the benefits of agile development and service-oriented architecture.
