Air Canada Cargo has been named the 2024 Cargo Operator of the Year at the 50th annual ATW Airline Industry Achievement Awards, setting a milestone as the first Canadian airline to earn this distinction. The Montreal-based airline was honoured for its excellence in operations and its innovative approach to cargo handling, notably through its significant strides in digitalization.

The digital transformation of Air Canada Cargo has been a central aspect of its commercial strategy. This transformation entails the creation of a customer-centric digital environment that simplifies scheduling and booking processes with effective self-serve tools. Furthermore, the migration of customer accounts to a cloud-based system has significantly reduced the reliance on paper air waybills, aligning with sustainable operational practices.

Mark Galardo, Executive Vice President, Revenue and Network Planning at Air Canada, expressed his gratitude and highlight the collective effort behind this achievement. He said, “We are extremely honoured to be recognized by ATW as Cargo Operator of the Year for 2024. I thank the thousands of dedicated employees at Air Canada Cargo who work tirelessly to ensure the unique needs of all of our customers are met and that essential goods keep moving around the globe.” Galardo emphasized the company’s ongoing investment in technology to enhance efficiency and customer service. He also noted the airline’s capacity to provide consistent global service, thanks to its freighter fleet and extensive passenger widebody network.

The ATW Airline Industry Achievement Awards are overseen by the Aviation Week Network’s Air Transport World. This prestigious event celebrates outstanding performance and innovation in airline operations, with winners selected by a panel comprising editors and analysts from ATW, Routes, Aviation Week, and CAPA. Air Canada Cargo’s recognition at these awards highlights its commitment to excellence in the air freight sector, reinforcing its position as a leading player on the global stage.
