written by Newsdesk | February 20, 2024

Asia-Pacific welcomes its first E-Jets E2 full flight simulatorEmbraer and CAE have officially opened the first full flight simulator (FFS) for E-Jets E2 in the Asia Pacific region, located in Singapore. This marks a key step in pilot training enhancement, with the simulator situated near Changi Airport at the Singapore-CAE Flight Training Centre. The E2 training program incorporates CAE’s competency-based training assessment (CBTA) courseware, interactive classroom instruction via the CAE Simfinity virtual simulator (VSIM), and hands-on training in the newly introduced CAE 7000XR Series FFS. This initiative is part of the broadened Embraer CAE Training Services (ECTS) joint venture.

Pilots from Scoot, a subsidiary of Singapore Airlines, have already commenced training in anticipation of the Embraer E190-E2 aircraft’s integration into the airline’s fleet later this year. The training encompasses various flight scenarios using CAE’s advanced generation FFS to bolster skills and readiness for the aircraft’s inaugural commercial flights.

Carlos Naufel, President & CEO of Embraer Services & Support, expressed his gratitude towards partners and employees for their contributions to the E2 simulator’s effective operations and the comprehensive pilot training program. He highlighted, “This is part of Embraer’s commitment to grow our infrastructure in Asia Pacific and to contribute to the region’s aviation growth story. Along with CAE, we remain committed to providing high-quality training to our customers and their pilots.”

Michel Azar-Hmouda, CAE’s Division President, Civil Aviation Training, emphasized the significance of this initiative for Embraer-CAE Flight Training’s expansion and success. He pointed out, “Technology is at the core of the new E2 program, with CAE’s VSIM, CBTA courseware and latest-generation FFS preparing pilots for the entry-into-service and safe operation of the E2 in the APAC Region.”

Elaine Teo, Senior Vice President, Global Enterprises Division, Singapore Economic Development Board, commented on the strategic importance of the simulator for the regional aerospace and aviation ecosystem. She stated, “We look forward to collaborating with industry partners to build capabilities that fuel the growth in APAC and enhance the skills of aerospace and aviation talent in the region, from Singapore.”

The simulator, certified by the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore in December 2023, is accompanied by classroom sessions incorporating interactive touchscreen training to expedite learning. Furthermore, the VSIM is highlighted as a significant tool for commercial pilot training, offering comprehensive access to the aircraft’s systems for both instructors and pilots.

The ECTS training solutions underscore Embraer Services & Support platform’s commitment to delivering top-tier services and ensuring an augmented support presence, thereby creating additional value for customers.
