Singapore Airlines has officially opened its new SilverKris Lounge at Perth International Airport, marking a significant upgrade with more space, upgraded facilities, and a variety of dining options. His Excellency Mr Anil Kumar Nayar, Singapore’s High Commissioner to Australia, inaugurated the lounge, which showcases Singapore Airlines’ ‘Home Away from Home’ design concept, doubling the space of its predecessor.
Louis Arul, SIA Regional Vice President South West Pacific, highlighted the lounge’s debut aligning with the airline’s resumed service of four daily flights to Perth. “The opening of the new SilverKris Lounge at Perth International Airport, together with the resumption of four daily flights from Perth to Singapore, is a significant milestone in our almost 60-year history in Perth, during which our operations have grown in tandem with the city,” stated Arul.
This development underscores Singapore Airlines’ investment in enhancing ground services, reflecting its commitment to premium travel experiences and confidence in Western Australia’s economy. Arul also expressed gratitude towards customers for their patience during construction and acknowledged the collaborative effort with Perth Airport to realize the project.
The refreshed lounge design by DP Architects incorporates elements from their flagship lounge at Singapore Changi Airport, including subtle batik motifs, and offers various spaces catering to diverse traveller needs. Accommodating around 135 customers, the lounge is significantly more spacious than the previous one opened in December 2006.
Among its features, the lounge boasts a larger buffet area with a live cooking station, a fully serviced bar, barista coffee, signature drinks, and an expanded selection of freshly prepared food and beverages available throughout the day. Also available are shower rooms, productivity pods for working, comfortable wingback chairs, and ample USB and charging points.
Conveniently located in the International Departure terminal, opposite Gate 52, the lounge serves business class, first-class suites, PPS Club and KrisFlyer Elite Gold members, along with select Virgin Australia Velocity and Star Alliance Gold Members.
In addition to the new lounge, Singapore Airlines announced the addition of three weekly services from 31 March 2024, increasing to 28 flights a week between Singapore and Perth, operated with SIA’s A350-900 medium-haul aircraft. This expansion signifies a return to pre-pandemic operation levels for Perth travellers, enhancing connectivity between Singapore and Western Australia.
