Air Charter Service completes complex cargo delivery for Indonesian oil platform

written by Newsdesk | September 12, 2024

Air Charter Service (ACS) successfully orchestrated a challenging cargo delivery from Italy to Indonesia for an offshore oil platform under construction.

The operation, conducted in July, involved transporting two aftercoolers weighing nearly 50 tons each.

Jason Bird, Cargo Director of ACS Singapore, said, “Our customer approached us to transport two 48 ton aftercoolers from Italy to Batam, which is on an Indonesian Island, just off the coast of Singapore.”

Due to the cargo’s extreme weight, ACS recommended using an Antonov 124 aircraft and flying directly into Singapore Changi Airport.

Bird explained, “The extreme weight of the cargo led us to recommend using an Antonov 124 and flying directly into Singapore Changi Airport, due to the superior cargo handling facilities and the need for external cranes to offload the cargo.”

In preparation for the charter, ACS collaborated with an engineering company and the airline to create a cradle capable of supporting the units during loading.

The company’s European team coordinated road permits and escort vehicles for the oversized load to Milan Airport.

Upon arrival in Singapore, ACS arranged overnight warehouse storage, trucking, road permits, and escorts for delivery to the port.

Dan Morgan-Evans, ACS’s Group Cargo Director, highlighted the importance of the company’s global network, stating, “This charter is a great example of how important our global network of offices is – working closely together to organise complex operations across continents.”

The successful completion of this complex cargo delivery showcases ACS’s expertise in handling challenging logistics operations across international borders.
