written by Newsdesk | March 17, 2025

The high-speed motorsport Air Race X will begin its 2025 season in Fukushima, Japan, on 29 April, marking the return of world-class pilots alongside rising talents competing in the series.

The season opener will be a Remote Race, a broadcast-only format, allowing global audiences to witness the action live on the Air Race X YouTube channel. The competition promises high-stakes rivalries and opportunities for new-generation pilots to challenge elite racers.

Australian pilot Aarron Deliu makes Air Race X debut

Among the newcomers is Australian aerobatic pilot Aarron Deliu, who will make his debut in the 2025 season. Based in Florida, Deliu has an extensive background in aerobatics, airshows, and competitive racing.

His career achievements include:
– Winning the Australian National Aerobatic Championship
– Earning the highest-ever placement for an Australian at the 2022 World Aerobatic Championships
– Securing victories in the 2023 Sky Grand Prix and 2024 Air Masters Cup

Deliu is known for his precision flying and philosophy of “Calm. Crisp. Clean.”

“Air Race X is not just a race; it’s the ultimate expression of speed, skill, and beauty in flight. Every race is a chance to push beyond limits,” he said.

Fukushima to host season opener and public viewing event

The season launch will take place in Fukushima, home to Japan’s top air racing pilot, Yoshihide Muroya. Fukushima Sky Park will host a special public viewing event where fans can experience the race in a live setting.

Muroya, who was the first-ever Air Race X champion, remains committed to mentoring the next generation of race pilots through his Race Pilot Program. He also aims to secure consecutive championship titles.

“Fourteen years after the earthquake, Fukushima continues to push forward. I hope to deliver my best performance to honour that spirit,” Muroya said.

Revolutionary race formats

Air Race X combines three innovative race formats:
– Remote Race: Pilots fly identical courses from different locations, with flight data merged for real-time broadcast.
– Digital Race: Augmented reality recreates flight paths in cityscapes, offering an immersive experience.
– Live Race: Traditional in-person air racing featuring extreme speeds and precision flying.

Air Race X aims to push the boundaries of competition through digital innovation, making high-speed air racing accessible to a global audience. The 2025 season is expected to set new standards for motorsports, blending technology with elite aviation skills.
