Singapore Airlines reports solid February results amid steady passenger demand

written by Newsdesk | March 19, 2025

Singapore Airlines (SIA) Group has reported stable operating performance for February 2025, with continued strength in passenger travel helping offset seasonal softness in cargo demand.

Group passenger traffic rose by 0.5 per cent year-on-year, outpacing a 0.2 per cent increase in capacity. The result lifted the group’s passenger load factor to 86.5 per cent, up 0.2 percentage points from the same month last year. In total, SIA and its low-cost subsidiary Scoot carried 3.11 million passengers, a 1.7 per cent increase.

SIA posted a passenger load factor of 85.8 per cent, with Scoot achieving 89.5 per cent. Load factors on routes to East Asia and West Asia and Africa were notably stronger, with increases of 4.2 and 4.5 percentage points respectively for SIA.

On the cargo side, the group saw a 2.6 per cent year-on-year increase in total cargo and mail carried, despite a 4.9 per cent decline in total cargo load (measured in tonne-kilometres). With capacity up 4.0 per cent, the cargo load factor fell to 51.9 per cent, down 4.8 percentage points.

Scoot continued to adjust its China network in February, launching services to Shantou and suspending operations to Nanchang and Jinan.

At the end of the month, the group’s passenger network spanned 129 destinations in 36 countries and territories. SIA operated flights to 79 destinations, while Scoot served 72. The cargo network comprised 133 destinations across 37 countries and territories.

Singapore Airlines also continues to expand its non-air offerings. Its lifestyle rewards app Kris+ now allows KrisFlyer members in Sydney and Melbourne to earn and redeem miles with more than 170 participating brands. Meanwhile, the Pelago travel platform provides access to over 200,000 activities and experiences worldwide.
