A contract awarded to Adagold Aviation for the provision of transport services to the ADF has been cleared of any irregularities following allegations by incumbent, Strategic Aviation, that Adagold received inside information on the tender requirements, The Age reports.

Strategic had questioned what role former Strategic manager and SkyAirWorld CEO David Charlton had played in the awarding of the contract to Adagold after Charlton had resumed working for Defence’s Joint Movements Group following SkyAirWorld’s collapse in early 2009.

Strategic had also raised concerns over Adagold’s plans to wet lease an Airbus A340-500 from Portuguese carrier HiFly to fulfil the contract, despite Strategic previously using HiFly A330s and crews itself before acquiring its own A330 last year.

The new contract with Adagold is expected to commence in October.
