Queensland based flight simulator manufacturer SimJET has announced that it is adding Adacel’s ‘ATC in a Box’ (ATCiB) program on all its simulators, enabling pilots to include air traffic control conversations in their simulator training.
“ATCiB integrates the ATC environment directly with the ownship’s scenario, providing traffic and ATC communications that are relevant and responsive to decisions made by the ownship aircrew,” said Marsha Bell, Adacel’s vice president Commercial Pilot Training Systems. What the pilot hears correlates with what is seen from the cockpit. Now pilots training on SimJET devices will aviate, navigate and communicate so they train as they fly and can fly as they trained.”
SimJET currently builds Boeing 737-800 fixed base training devices and is preparing for CASA certification to the standards of FAA level 4 / JAR FNPT. It is also expanding its product line to other training devices and operates a simulator centre at Archerfield Airport.
