Indonesia to order more Sukhois

written by WOFA | September 23, 2010

The Jakarta Post reports chief of staff Marshal Imam Sufaat as saying that the Indonesian Air Force (TNI-AU) plans to order a further six Sukhoi fighters so that it can form a full squadron of 16 aircraft.

“The existing squadron of Sukhois remains insufficient to give a deterrent effect given our vast territory,” he said on September 17, adding that the proposal had already been approved by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.

Indonesia bought three Su-27s and three Su-30MKs in 2005, and a further six Sukhois were delivered this year.
